DanceAbility Finland Association is a non-profit organization founded in year 2008. Our aims are:
to promote the usage of
DanceAbility method
to develop and support accessible,
integrated, creative dancing in Finland
to support certificated
DanceAbility teachers in Finland
work as Finland's department of
DanceAbility International network.
The Board of DAF: DanceAbility teacher Gunilla Sjövall (chairperson), DanceAbility teacher Sally Davison (vice chairperson), DanceAbility teacher, wheelchair dancer Maija Karhunen (secretary), wheelchair dancerTuuli Helkky Helle, DacceAbility teacher, drama instructor Outi Ivaska and dance teacher student Riia Niemelä (deputy member). The Mentor of DAF is Alito Alessi, Founder of the DanceAbility method and Artistic Director of DanceAbility International.
What is DanceAbility?
DanceAbility is a
dance method accessible to all people. Classes focus on improvisation and
creative movement and are designed to be inclusive of all people. As dancers
gain experience, they can also move into choreography that celebrates
individuality and relationships.
The founder of DanceAbility
is the American choreographer and artistic director of DanceAbility

DanceAbility Teacher Certification training in Montevideo, Uruguay in Febr. 2010
There are now over 300 certified DanceAbility teachers in the world, some of
them with a disability. The next teacher training will be held in Montevideo, Uruguay in February 2010.
